AI × Biosecurity

An pilot virtual program on how frontier AI is changing biological risk and how to defend against next-gen pandemics. Open to university students and AIS organizers everywhere when it launches.

Why this program

Biosecurity is one of the clearest places where advanced AI raises the stakes — and one of the most neglected.

Frontier models are increasingly capable in the life sciences, and the safeguards, evaluations, and policy needed to manage that are still being invented. With increasing AI capability, comes increased magnitude of risk. Safeguards like DNA screening and metagenomic surveillance are needed now more than ever.

RAIA is building an original virtual course covering the intersection: how AI changes biological risk, how labs and governments are responding, and where students can contribute. Exact details, speakers, and dates are in development. Curriculum will be based on BlueDot curriculum. Unlike a virtual only program, university groups will collaborate on a shared project
